The Volunteer Spotlight is a new program initiated by Hopewell EMS with a purpose of introducing our volunteers to our online community. Meet this months featured volunteer.

Jessica Goodman is this quarter's Volunteer Spotlight. A nine year member of the Hopewell Emergency Crew, Goodman has seen her share of good and bad. But through it all, she has remained steadfast and given to the service of helping her fellow man. When Goodman first started at Hopewell EMS, she knew nothing more than she wanted to begin a career in the field of health care.
As a graduate of Hopewell High School, she has always been aware of the crew but never really made any attempts to join until after high school. Upon acceptance, you could see the strong characteristics of help and hard work shining through. Goodman became certified in EMS and begin to staff units running calls every chance she could.
You could tell that she loved working with her patients. Each and every one are treated like gold. "The meeting of two personalities is like the
contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction,
both are transformed."
This is one of Goodman's favorite quotes. "It hails from a Swiss psychologist by the name of Carl Jung and it speaks volumes on my view of me and my patients"
Goodman is currently employed at John Randolph Medical Center in the Emergency Department and a full time student at John Tyler Community College. She is completing coursework to obtain her certification as an Advanced Life Support provider and then plans to continue her education to become a Registered Nurse.
